Class B3 Large Town

There were eleven entries.

Three were awarded Bronze, four Silver, three Silver Gilt and one Gold. The Gold medal and the Whitworth Hall and Gardens Trophy went to Durham.

The strong efforts made by the In Bloom participants in Durham have clearly been fruitful, with particular strength in horticulture and nature conservation. This historic town is enhanced by many colourful flower displays and the environmental quality is high.

The town is pleasantly surrounded by well managed green spaces, especially on the river banks that provide a haven for wildlife. There is plenty of evidence of innovation, creativity and on-going work that will build upon their current success.
