Class B2 Towns

MorpethThere were seven entries in 2008.

One Bronze medal was awarded, two Silver, three Silver Gilt and one Gold. The trophy went to Morpeth.

Morpeth

is an ancient market town with a recent history of serious flooding. The judges were impressed by the high standard of planting, in terms of colour choice, quality and sustainability. All the green spaces were well cared for. Residential and business areas were clean and colourful.

The work of the river warden is very valuable to the area. Community awareness is at its best in this entry. Every sector is represented and the effect of this is obvious throughout the town. The town is commended for its recovery after the floods.
