Class C1 Small City

There were four entries in this class, there was one Silver Award and three Silver Gilt.

The Silver went to Washington and Silver Gilt awards went to Darlington, Thornaby and Gateshead.

 Darlington won the trophy.

Darlington was colourful, clean and welcoming during the judges’ visits, with some particularly outstanding features.  The shopping precinct gives a feeling of space and well-being. Attractive and innovative roundabouts reflect winning floral displays from past national shows.  is excellently presented and a much used facility.  E.D. Walker homes is a stunning 10 acre site where we’d all want to live. The commitment to wildlife and conservation is strong and the judges were impressed by the team spirit that embraces all sections of the community.
