D1 Urban Community

There were five entries in this class.  Belmont, Carrville & Gilesgate Moor, Grangetown and Marton West Ward received Silver Awards, Winlaton & Blaydon a Silver Gilt.  A Gold medal and the Durham City Trophy went to Eston.

Maintenance and tidiness of the planted areas were of a high standard and the plants themselves were bright, eye catching and healthy.  The garden in Eston Square (which had once been a piece of derelict land) is now an area which is full of well chosen mixed planting.   

Eston is proud of its unique heritage. This is very visible on the ornate statues, railings and signage all telling the history of the area. 

Eston Residents do a wonderful job in reaching out to the different organisations.  They all have their part to play and do so with enthusiasm.
