D1 Urban Community

There were three entries in this class.  Belmont, Carrville & Gilesgate Moor received a Silver Award, Winlaton/Blaydon a Silver Gilt.  A Gold medal and the Durham City Trophy went to Eston.

Surrounding the old village of Eston is a large suburban area originally housing the iron ore workers.  The judges felt the whole area was an excellent achievement.  Tubs, beds and barrier baskets were filled with first class plants and the central area awaiting development, was outstanding, beautified by the superb collection of containers.

Coast and Country are to be congratulated on their involvement, particularly on the upkeep of shrubs.  There is amazing support from all corners of the community.  From watering to planting, they all work together with dedication.
