Sunderland - Silver Gilt award & category winner

This former industrial city, which lies between sea and countryside, has made great progress in improving its image. There were numerous green spaces and parks which have good tree cover and mixed plantings.

There is an active community involvement with many good examples of projects undertaken.

There were many good landscape developments and there appeared to be a programme for continuing improvement. We left with fond memories.
